KISS MY BRASS! Tour

To flee or not to flee

Jeffrey (Scott Esposito, right) faces the weighty challenge of reconciling his attraction to Steve (Nick Koesters) and his pathological fear of life in New York City at the height of the AIDS epidemic in the Beck Center's production of Paul Rudnick's Jeffrey, directed by Brian Zoldessy.

Jeffrey has decided to remove himself from the scary world of dating when he meets Steve at the gym. He wants him, but is terrified because Steve has HIV. Soon after, Jeffrey's friends also try to fix him up with Steve. He agrees to go out with him, but backs out at the last minute. Will bashing, bitching and Mother Teresa finally make Jeffrey see the light, or will he move back to some flat state in the middle of the country?

Jeffrey is playing from November 21 to December 14 at the Beck Center for the Arts, 17801 Detroit Avenue, in the Cleveland suburb of Lakewood. Thursday through Saturday, the play is on at 8 pm, with a 3 pm matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $22, $19 seniors and $15 for students.

Following the shows on November 22, 28 and 29, and December 5, 6, 12 and 13, openly gay actor Kevin Joseph Kelly (Edge of 17) will be performing as Mr. Charles, Currently in Palm Beach, another piece by Paul Rudnick. Tickets are $10.
